Office Redesign

Concept Board 103.jpg

For one of my final projects in the first year, we had to design an office space for a brand of our choice. We were given an existing office building and had two quite large rooms to work with. We were introduced to AutoCAD in this module which at first took a while to get used to but it allowed us to create accurate general arrangements, reflective ceiling plans and elevations.

I chose to design my office for Devon Outdoor, a small independent outdoors shop. I wanted to create an office that incorporated biophilic design and used more sustainable materials and technology.

Below you can see two galleries which show you my general arrangements and elevations for the ground floor and first floor. The ground floor has been designed as a showroom for the companies products and also a space for the staff to relax during their breaks. I have put in a selection of camping chairs and tables as well as some smaller tents and display tables. To create a more exciting scheme I decided I wanted to connect the space more to nature by incorporating a built-in 'river' made from glass with water flowing underneath, I chose to use the shape of the River Tamar to personalise the space to Plymouth as this is where the office is based.

The first floor is the office space so I wanted to create an open plan area which allows for collaborations and teamwork, however, I have included two more closed off areas to allow for private meetings. I incorporated the river idea on the first floor as well but to make it even more exciting I included a campervan and a hut shaped seating area to act as workspaces if the staff do not want to sit at their desks. I hung flower planters above each main table to carry the idea of biophilia through my design. I also had to create a kitchen/ breakout space as well as design the bathrooms and a bespoke product. I chose to create a bespoke seating area which you can see below.
