Interdisciplinary

Back to the Future final image.jpg

This interdisciplinary module was our first group project in the first year. Each group from our class were assigned a film and we had to design and create a lampshade each inspired by this film and then design and carry out a photoshoot with these lampshades.

This module introduced us to working in groups and in more high-pressure environments. Not only did the photoshoot have to include work produced by textile students, but we also had to work with a photography student, this was very helpful as we did not have much experience in this field. Finally, we had to present our work at the end of year exhibition, which brought together all first-years and their interdisciplinary module work.

The group I was in, was assigned Back To The Future, one of my favourite films. We decided to create a photo shoot inspired by the bright colours of the '80s, the futuristic metal from the DeLorean and the element of time.

We started by creating our lampshades, we had to work individually to produce them but we had to communicate as a group to ensure the lampshades all tied together at the end.  I found it quite tricky to come up with an idea but making the lampshade was a really fun process.

Below you can see the moodboard and shoot visual I created as part of the deliverables for the project. Also, you can see some behind the scenes images and a final image of my lampshade and the end of year show.
