Cafe Redesign

Redesigning the refectory in our University was one of our first modules. We learnt how to do technical drawings by hand and how to create a floor plan accurately to scale.

I chose to go with a basic monochrome colour scheme with teal being the one pop of colour. I went for a striking, black, geometric pattern on the servery wall to add some interest to the room.

To the right is my inspiration board for this project and below is my final mood board. We had to create these on A2 mountboard using samples that we had collected.

As part of this module, we were taught how to measure a room and then using the measurements we learnt how to draw an accurate floor plan to scale. This was a great skill to learn. We then used this as a basis to our design.

I chose to put a mix of banquette seating, high tables and stand-alone tables in the space to break up the view and add height to the room.

We also learnt how to draw elevations to scale so we could have multiple views of our space, you can see those below.

We also had to hand-draw some visuals and then render them. I chose to render my visuals on Photoshop.
